From Bollnäs to a major
Pernilla Lindberg was born in 1986 in Bollnäs, Sweden. An LPGA Tour member since 2010, she represented Sweden at the Olympic Games, and won the 2018 ANA Inspiration with her future husband, Daniel Taylor, on the bag.
Biography
Pernilla’s story
Pernilla Lindberg grew up in Bollnäs, in central Sweden, and learned the game at Bollnäs Golfklubb. It was the start of a journey that would take her from a small Swedish club to the very top of the women’s game.
She made her mark early. As an amateur she helped Europe win the 2003 Junior Solheim Cup, and in 2008 she won the Espirito Santo Trophy, the women’s World Amateur Team Championship, with Sweden. She then crossed the Atlantic to play college golf at Oklahoma State University, where she was a three-time All-American.
In 2010 Pernilla joined the LPGA Tour, and she has been a member ever since. Along the way she represented Sweden at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
Her defining moment came at the 2018 ANA Inspiration, one of the major championships of women’s golf. Tied after 72 holes, she went into a sudden-death playoff that stretched over two days and eight extra holes before she beat Inbee Park to win her first professional title: a major. On the bag that week was Daniel Taylor, her caddie and today her husband.
The tournament is now known as the Chevron Championship, and Pernilla returns to it as a past champion. She has stepped back from a full schedule, but she remains an LPGA member.
Pernilla and Daniel married in 2019, and they have a daughter, Lily.
Today Pernilla also works as an expert golf commentator for Viaplay. She still plays corporate outings and pro-ams, gives clinics and lessons, makes appearances and speaks at events, and she is proud to partner with PING and Titleist. Through Stockholm Pro Access, which her husband Daniel runs, golfers plan their own trip to Stockholm and add a round, a clinic or an evening with Pernilla.

2018 ANA Inspiration (now the Chevron Championship) · Mission Hills Country Club
A record-breaking playoff
Pernilla led by three shots after 54 holes and birdied the 72nd hole to finish at 15 under par, tied with Inbee Park and Jennifer Song.
Song went out on the third extra hole. Pernilla and Park kept matching each other until darkness stopped play on Sunday evening. On Monday morning they resumed, and on the eighth extra hole, the par-4 10th, Pernilla holed a 30-foot birdie putt. AP called the eight sudden-death holes a major record.
It was her first professional win. She celebrated with the traditional leap into Poppie’s Pond, joined by her parents and Daniel, her caddie and then fiancé.

Graduates from Oklahoma State, a three-time All-American, and turns professional. Plays half a Futures Tour season, then comes through LPGA Q-School sectional qualifying and the final stage to earn her LPGA card, and LET pre-qualifying and final qualifying at La Manga, where she meets Daniel.

LPGA Tour rookie season. Daniel caddies for her for the first time, at the Slovak Open on the Ladies European Tour.

Tied fifth at the U.S. Women’s Open.
- 2016
Represents Sweden at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

Our story · Pernilla & Daniel
A golfer and her caddie
Pernilla and Daniel first met in December 2009 at the final stage of Ladies European Tour Q-School at La Manga, Spain.
They stayed in touch and met up again in February 2010 at the New Zealand Women’s Open at Pegasus in Christchurch. Daniel arranged for his brother, Craig, to caddie for Pernilla that week, and she tied for second, closing with a course-record 63. For years Craig gave Daniel a hard time about having the better finish with her on the bag, until the 2018 ANA win settled it.
A few months later, Pernilla was due to have a caddie from the Swedish Golf Federation on her bag at the Allianz Ladies Slovak Open at Gray Bear in Slovakia in May 2010. When that caddie couldn’t make it, she asked Daniel. It was his first week caddying for her, and she finished T5. It was also the week they started dating.
After Gray Bear he caddied for her at European events, and in 2012 he joined her full time on every tour. He was on the bag in 2018 when she won the ANA Inspiration, beating Inbee Park and Jennifer Song in an eight-hole playoff that finished on Monday. They married in 2019 and have a daughter, Lily.
Daniel Taylor
Daniel grew up in the UK, where he played for the England national team and was a member at Woburn Golf Club. He went to Southeastern Louisiana University on a golf scholarship and graduated in 2008. His first caddie job was in Hawaii, working for Jo Head (now Jo Mundy).
Since then he has caddied for more than 30 men’s and women’s tour professionals. His career on the bag includes a major championship win with Pernilla at the 2018 ANA Inspiration and, during a season caddying for Germany’s Caroline Masson, the 2017 Solheim Cup at Des Moines Golf and Country Club in Iowa, where she played for Europe.
Daniel is also a photographer and filmmaker, the creative behind Inside the Ropes Media. He filmed and edited the LPGA’s #DriveOn film. Today he also runs Stockholm Pro Access, handling inquiries and scheduling for Pernilla’s guest experiences.
